World Brotherhood Day Will Be Celebrated on December 18th

World Brotherhood Organization (WBO) will mark its Annual World Brotherhood Day on December 18th. As an international, voluntary, non-profit, non-political social organization, WBO is making a qualitative difference to the society since its foundation in 1999. By reawakening the spirit of solidarity and brotherhood on the basis of humanity, WBO propagates peace, progressiveness and better coordination between individuals and societies. Their work positively impacts people from all walks and spheres of life, irrespective of caste, creed or religion.

 

The Annual Day Celebrations on December 18th will be graced by the presence of many dignitaries including, Mrs. Meenakshi Lekhi, MP from New Delhi, Mr. Udit Raj, MP from North West Delhi and Mr. Joginder Singh, Ex CBI Director. As this event also marks the celebration of Christmas and New Year, several Ambassadors, High Commissioners, renowned singers and artists shall also grace the occasion with their presence. The Annual World Brotherhood Day is marked every year on the Sunday preceding Christmas.

CNBC-TV18 urges you to donate Rs. 23 a day towards educating a child

CNBC-TV18, India’s first business channel is championing an important cause of education for underprivileged children in India. Known for its insightful analysis, inclusiveness and authenticity, CNBC-TV18 is bringing in yet another revolution by taking up this cause in association with a Mumbai based NGO Angel Xpress Foundation. The channel is lending support to a month-long campaign, which intends to provide underprivileged children with quality education as a part of their CSR initiatives, by helping them raise funds and influence more people to volunteer to give their time to teach these kids. The initiative, being termed as ‘Ummeed ka Diya’, will be running for over a month till December.

 

As an entity that believes in proactively building meaningful awareness and spreading positivity through its actions, CNBC-TV18 has joined hands with Angel Xpress Foundation, an NGO that provides educational support to underprivileged kids through regular access to educated adults. The channel is encouraging its viewers to partake in this campaign by either volunteering their time for 2-3 hours at the NGO’s free tuition classes or by donating a nominal sum of only Rs. 23 a day. The free tuition classes give the underprivileged children an opportunity to understand their respective syllabi better, and face challenges with confidence. This also gives citizens an opportunity to do their bit in community building and being agents of change.

CNBC-TV18 is requesting viewers to do their bit so that children can light up their lives this festive season through ‘Ummeed ka Diya’, translating to lamp of hope. Second Edition of the Food for Thought Fest comes back to the capital this December

The Second Edition of the Food for Thought Fest comes back to the capital this December, celebrating the diverse culinary heritage of the South Asian region. The festival comes to Delhi on the 23rd and 24th of December, 2016, and will be held at the Taj Palace Hotel, Sardar Patel Marg,Diplomatic Enclave, New Delhi.  A special one of a kind initiative that focuses on the common heritage and history of the South Asian region, as well as the unique influences that are a part of it, it has set a benchmark as the forum for conversations, cuisines and the exchange of ideas and philosophies. The participating countries will include India, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal.

The 2016 edition of the Food for Thought Fest brings in exciting components that make this a truly unique event. There will be talks and discussions around culture and cuisine in the “Thought Fest”, while the “Food Fest” will be offering cookery workshops with master chefs of the region and an authentic flavour from the participating countries, which will have food stalls from some of the most superlative restaurants  from the South Asian region.. The brand new element in the “Fun Fest” this year will be a “Gastronomy Bazaar”,  in the Rani Bagh  lawns of the Taj Palace Hotel.

The Food for Thought Fest was conceived as a convergence ideas and dialogues around gastronomy, in the process enabling an atmosphere of South Asian commonality through culinary and cultural diversity. In its first edition, the Food For Thought Fest set a benchmark with an engaging selection of panellists, chefs and experts. This year too, the festival will continue to engage renowned culinary giants from across the South Asian region.

The Thought Fest will be a presentation of papers and talks, interviews and panel discussions by scholars, journalists and professionals on various topics on gastronomy. RIVER MONSTERS on Discovery TV Channel

Jeremy grew up in southeast England on the banks of the Suffolk Stour, where his fascination with the underwater world and the desire to see “what’s around the next bend” began. His first overseas trip was to the mountain-rivers of India in 1982, and since then, he has increasingly spent his time tracking down large and little-known fish in rivers around the world – particularly in the Congo and the Amazon rainforests.  Over the last thirty years, Jeremy has travelled extensively to India in search of elusive fish in Kali (Brahmaputra), Kauvery and other iconic rivers.  At the Kali River, he found a little-known catfish species that can grow to a large size – the Goonch or Giant Devil Catfish.  His search continued to find the rare fish, a Golden Mahseer.

 

In the new episodes of River Monsters airing this December, the journey will continue with Jeremy visiting India in search of Goonch and Mahseer. He also tries fly fishing that takes a lot of practice to get right. Will he be able to compare it to catches of his past?  Jeremy heads to Southeast Asia in search of the mythological sea serpent. But will his freshwater knowledge be enough to tackle this monster of the deep?  He embarks on an epic mission to reveal the real creature behind the world’s most famous river monster; the Loch Ness Monster. But what will he uncover? Further in Africa’s Rift Valley, rife with killer crocs, hippos and warring gangs, he dives deep for a worthy prize: the Mputa Nile perch.  In Papua New Guinea rumours of flesh-eating pacu are haunting locals. How dangerous is this fish and has it really developed a taste for parts of the male anatomy?  In the Congo River lurks a super predator. Fast and ferocious, this killing machine has even snatched a local child. Can Jeremy catch this notorious fish?

Indraprasth Sanjeevni NGO in association with Ministry of Urban Development launches a new initiative under Swachh Bharat Mission

Indraprasth Sanjeevni NGO in association with The Ministry of Urban Development has launched a new initiative today under the Swachh Bharat Mission. As part of the initiative, households and residential colonies in various parts of Delhi will display a  ‘SwachhaGrahi’ nameplate outside their houses. The purpose of displaying the nameplate is to reinforce the message of keeping one’s house and surroundings clean amongst the residents of India and in the process encourage the citizens to contribute towards cleanliness and green environment.

NGO Indraprasth Sanjeevni based in New Delhi will be providing the nameplate free of cost to various residential colonies in Delhi and work closely with RWAs under this initiative. The NGO will be starting this campaign from Karol Bagh on 25th December 2016 on the Birthday Anniversary of Bharat Ratan Shri.Atal Bihari Vajpayee (Former P.M.of India).

Speaking at the occasion, Shri Praveen Prakash, Joint Secretary MoUD and Mission Director, SBM (Urban) said, “I want to thank NGO Indraprasth Sanjeevni, Daler Mehendi for this initiative and for spreading the message of Swachh Bharat. We hope this will encourage more citizens to be a part of the Swachh Bharat Mission.”

Mr. Sanjeev Arora, Chairman Indraprasth Sanjeevni NGO said ‘Swachh Bharat mission is a mass movement and will be fulfilled with individual participation. With this initiative, we will work with various residential societies, RWAs including households in middle and lower middle class homes and encourage people to display the nameplate and become a ‘SwachhaGrahi.”

Promoting the initiative, Daler Mehndi, Pop singer, music composer, songwriter said“I am happy to be associated with the Swacch Bharat mission. As an ambassador I  hope to encourage my followers to imbibe the spirit of a Clean India ,motivate them to become Swachha Grahi and join hands on-ground to participate in mission activities.”

 

The Swachh Bharat Mission, which aims to make India open defecation free, has now become a mass movement among civil societies and individuals, towards promoting use of toilet and hygiene. Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across country are working round the clock to educate, engage and make aware its population about ill effects of open defecation on children and society.
