Further, I believe that with India being the cricketing capital of the world and Delhi being the capital city, the DDCA should reflect the highest values and amenities thereby benefitting cricketers as well as members. Having travelled across the world several times and seen from close quarters the best cricketing facilities as well as the manner in which clubs are maintained, I aim to contribute and inculcate certain value systems so that the DDCA becomes a world class cricket body with facilities comparable to any in the world. It is important that members and fans become proud of the Delhi cricket structure and its facilities. I also feel that sports journalists must get priority for DDCA membership as they are important for the growth of the sport.”

The DDCA Members’ Front aims to restore the past glory of DDCA when it was considered in the higher echelons of the cricket world as a formidable cricket playing association with talent and facilities to match.

He is well known as a fiercely independent personality in his quest for excellence and never compromises with mediocrity. Hence, we are confident that all present and future Delhi players and DDCA Members will benefit exponentially from the skills and integrity he brings to the table. This is indeed a path breaking moment for our Association.”

BCCI to include DRS on a trial basis during the Paytm India vs. England Test series, 2016

The Board of Control for Cricket in India will deploy the Decision Review System, in toto, in the forthcoming series between India and England starting from the 9th of Nov 2016, on a trial basis to evaluate the improvements made to the system, over a period of time

In the meeting with the ICC and the Hawkeye officials, the improvements made to the system were further evaluated by the BCCI team, who were satisfied that most of the concerns and suggestions that were expressed by BCCI over a period of time, were addressed to a significant extent.

The significant changes, which have been effected, include:

  • The introduction of ultramotion cameras will address issues with regard to calculating the predictive path which allows the ball tracking, to be more accurate.
  • Manual intervention to set the impact point has been controlled by the introduction of the ‘Ultra edge’, which has been approved by MIT and will help in determining the frame of impact.
  • Ultraedge also ensures that post impact balls do not affect the predicted path or impact point and hence the accuracy has been improved.
  • Earlier, there was a possibility that the operator would have missed a delivery and hence a LBW appeal could have been missed. Now, Hawkeye has developed the technology to record and save all images so that in case an operator fails to arm the tracking system, the images can be rewound and replayed.
  • Basis the recommendation from BCCI, additional cameras have been installed so that there is redundancy and also provide 100% reliable spin vision for DRS.

Anurag Thakur, President of BCCI, who was present throughout the presentation stated, “ We are happy to note that Hawkeye has institutionalised all the recommendations made by BCCI, and we confirm that this improved version of DRS will be used on a trial basis during the forthcoming series against England and based on the performance of the system and the feedback that we will receive, further continuation in forthcoming series will be decided. We recognise the enhanced role of technology in sport and BCCI will lead such initiatives in coming days, and enrich the viewer experience.

Ajay Shirke, Hony. Secretary of BCCI said, “ With MIT endorsing the enhancements made in the system on the basis of recommendations made by the BCCI, we are convinced that such technology should be utilised in supporting correct decision making. While recognising that improvements in technology are ongoing, BCCI will continue to include any and all such path breaking interventions, to further the cause of the sport.

Remaining ICC Champions Trophy 2017 tickets to go on general sale later this month

The remaining tickets for ICC Champions Trophy 2017 matches will go on general sale later this month.

This follows the ticket application period which ran during September and saw 417,000 tickets applied for from fans across 60 countries. There was large demand for India v Pakistan, England v Australia and The Final, all of which were oversubscribed at every price band, along with the opening fixture between England and Bangladesh and India’s match against South Africa.

To ensure fair allocation, any oversubscribed matches were run through a ballot. Eleven of the fifteen matches had ballots run in at least one price band. Fans have been notified via e-mail if they have been successful with their ticket application.

ICC Chief Executive, David Richardson, said: “This is superb response from cricket fans not just in the UK but from around the world. To see 11 of the 15 matches oversubscribed shows the popularity of the game and Champions Trophy format where every single match counts. I am delighted that this many tickets have been sold so far out from the tournament, it means we can now focus on selling the remaining tickets and creating the best possible atmosphere at every game.”

While five matches will not go back on general sale, additional tickets are expected to become available in the spring following the return of any that are not required by tournament stakeholders. There will also be a resale function made available from February 2017 for fans to sell any unwanted tickets at face value to other fans.

Steve Elworthy, Tournament Director of ICC Champions Trophy 2017, said: “We are delighted with the great response we have had from fans wanting to be part of the tournament next summer. With availability for 10 matches, including England and India fixtures, people still have the chance to buy tickets to watch the world’s best teams in what promises to deliver exciting cricket.

“So far fans have only been told what matches they have got tickets for and will be told full allocation details, such as seat and stand, closer to the tournament. This means that any tickets currently being advertised on secondary ticketing sites with allocation details listed are misleading and cannot be guaranteed. We are monitoring this situation with the ICC and are taking the appropriate legal measures against these sites. We strongly recommend that cricket fans around the world buy their tickets only via the official site at www.icc-cricket.com/ticket.”

The remaining tickets will go on general sale on a first come, first served basis at 2pm on Thursday 27 October via www.icc-cricket.com/ticket. There is currently varied availability for the following matches
